WV Fiber's network reaches 20 points of presence in 15 cities worldwide.
In 2004, the news service was sold so that WV Fiber could focus on the core business of the network. That news business is now Atlanta-based UseNetServer. WV Fiber's OC-192/OC-48 global IP and transport network, which now includes 20 POPs in 15 cities worldwide, delivers Internet solutions for enterprises, ISPs and carriers. The network connects to more than 400 other networks via peering agreements encompassing the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. And Richard Eller, WV Fiber's Director of Marketing, says the network is continuing to grow, with eight more POPs in eight new cities soon to be added. "We get phone calls on a regular basis from potential clients asking what it would it take to get WV Fiber to locate in their city," he says. "Our business model is simple in that regard: if the deal to bring us into a new location can support the investment, and we are cash-flow positive after the deal, then of course there is a good chance of going forward." The company's standard deployment in each POP includes an Avici core router (in core cities) and a Cisco GSR, with Riverstone and Foundry equipment where needed. WV Fiber's Network Operations Center is managed and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week to monitor all network components. Key products and services include internet access, transit, paid peering, content delivery and colocation. The company prides itself on offering low pricing and a quick turn up of services.
