TeliaSonera was founded in 2002 as a result of a merger between the Swedish
and Finnish telecommunications companies, Telia and Sonera. TeliaSonera
International Carrier operates in more than 20 countries in Europe, and
in the U.S. and Russia.
The company's wholly owned Viking Networks cover more than 40,000 route
kilometers (24,800 miles). An interactive
network map on TeliaSonera's Web site shows the range of services
available in each country, from Bulgaria to the United States. The network
can provide speeds ranging from 2 Mbps to 1,000 Gbps, depending on customer
requirements.
