Internet services on a private-label
basis to a community of more than 4,000 US-based ISPs and 500 large telecom
providers. PSINet's wholesale network services are delivered via more
than 250 U.S. Points of Presence, which provide access PSINet's global
fiber Internet network. The company also supports transit
and peering agreements to ensure a free and open Internet for users
and providers.
ISPs that wish to partner
with PSINet must complete an assessment
survey to determine which programs suit the potential partner's needs,
and build a sales contact list for PSINet, of course. PSINet's services
include corporate Internet access and private IP networking, managed Internet
security, Web and database hosting services, e-commerce solutions, voice,
fax, streaming audio and video, and other applications.
In August 2000, PSINet debuted its application services
offering. Unlike rivals like UUNET and AT&T, which offer collocation and
hosting services only to ASPs, PSINet offers hosted application services
directly to enterprise customers. In this case, he ISP competes directly
with ASPs including Applicast, Corio and USinternetworking.
