Bell Nexxia is Bell Canada's answer to the age of global business offering corporate customers cost effective, next-generation services across Canada, the U.S. and around the globe.
Bell
Nexxia owns and operates a seamless, coast-to-coast IP-Broadband
network that has over 100 points of presence in key locations throughout
Canada and the United States. The company offers IP network services,
ATM/Frame Relay transport and Fiber-based high-bandwidth solutions.
The IP network employs a Packet Over SONET architecture,
which enables Cisco Systems' Gigabit Switch Router (GSR) to send native
IP packets across standard SONET transmission equipment with full survivability,
including
Bell Nexxia's added Virtual Private Network (VPN) enables advanced IP applications, giving business customers private network service capabilities over the public infrastructure. The VPN aware network maintains security at the Network Layer (Layer 3). The resulting connectionless IP environment provides differentiated classes of service and partitioned Closed User Group (CUG) security capabilities.
Transport, ATM/Frame Relay and Fiber Network services are also available. The Packet Over SONET architecture bypasses the need for Layer 2 services represented by ATM and Frame Relay, resulting in time and cost savings for customers.
Through the co-development relationship with Cisco Systems, Bell Nexxia will access the emerging IP Operations Support Systems (OSS) technologies, enabling it to manage the large-scale IP network.
Bell Nexxia Wholesale Services is responsible for coming to terms with American and Canadian carriers, resellers, rebillers, ISPs, ASPs CLECs and DLECs. The group offers a variety of products, services, and programs to ensure that reseller relationships with Bell Nexxia is as effective and profitable as possible.
Nexxia Service Provider Solutions include ATM broadband services, Bandwidth Select for point-to-point high-speed solutions, Frame Relay access, Gateway Access for 1 Mbps ADSL Digital Subscriber Line technology, High Speed Access connecting end-users with their service provider's PoPs, and Internet Connect transit service for high-traffic providers, among others.
As a result of the recent Bell Canada restructure, the Canadian wholesale activities of Bell Nexxia have been consolidated under my leadership in Bell Carrier Services. Serving one wholesale market makes absolute business sensein order to streamline its business services.
