Advanced TV Integrates Internet Without Set-Top Box New OEM TV set has built-in modem and software.
Fuze3 Technologies says it's developed a new kind of TV with technology that integrates Internet access into the set itself. The company will show its line of FuzeTVs at the Consumer Electronics Show beginning January 6 in Las Vegas. Ranging from 14" to 27", all FuzeTV models include a cable-ready TV tuner and display, a wireless remote, a wireless keyboard, an embedded Web browser and email application, and printer port with either 56K or broadband connection options. "A key benefit of our TVs is our patent-pending modular architecture which ensures much better display quality and allows our customers to provide an Internet TV solution that can be easily upgraded as the Net standards continue to grow and change," says Warren Williams, President of Fuze 3. The company is an OEM or Original Equipment Manufacturer supplier, meaning its products are resold by other companies under their own brand names.
Separately, Fuze3 also announced it has created a remote bookmarking device, called the FuzeLink, that lets users capture additional information on the Internet related to television or radio content. According to Williams, the FuzeLink "virtual bookmarking tool, is designed to let consumers quickly and easily access specific pages deep within a Web site. At the touch of a button, the FuzeLink 'hears' and remembers inaudible data signals embedded in any radio or TV broadcast. After a quick synch with a PC or Internet device, one click takes you directly to online information related to what you've seen or heard, such as special offers, merchandise, and product information." The privately-owned Fuze3 Technologies was originally founded as eHomeTV in 1999.
