The Associated Press is reporting that Billy Tauzin III, who was running for his father's seat in Congress, has conceded in a very close race in Louisiana.

His father, known primarily to ISPs as the co-author of the bipartisan Tauzin-Dingell bill, was not loved among the independent small business readers of this website.

But even with the end of the political career of one of the biggest foes of competition, many other special interests remain opposed to competition in the ISP space.

On December 10, 2004, a group of independent ISPs will organize the Gigabyte March on Washington. Check it out.
