ISP Letters to the Editor

Roger, I Don't Hear You

Reader complains about the state of Rogers@Home.

[Response to Oh! Canada from October 26, 2001 and Uh-Oh! Canada from October 30, 2001.]

Email a colleague

Dear Editors:

Hi,

I have been on the cable service of Rogers Cable for a couple years now and sure wish I had seen your articles before, as the things you write about are all so true.

I have been told so many times that the problems were my fault and that my connection to the system was my fault because my settings were wrong. I never touched a thing. I just turned it on. I have only once been given a break on my bill as I had copies of six replies sent me that told me to unplug the modem at night and to shut my system down all kinds of foolish uneducated information.

The latest mess is the converting over of the e-mail from @home to @rogers. I changed everything over the day before it was to take effect and it supposedley entered me in the major draw they were having and even as I write now I have not been able to access my e-mail and have written them a number of times through another program telling them they have a problem.

Only a few minutes ago they adivsed me that they don't even have my account in their database and to send my account number to them. So I wonder just how the drawing was done and how many others like me were left high and dry in the draw, even three weeks later without e-mail access.

Just thought you would like to know you're on the money about their product and system.

Thank you again for the great insight. By the way, I am no kid. I am 57 and depend on my system.

Thank you for your time

Bruce,
Oshawa, Ont.,
Canada
