Product Support
The WebXL includes a three year parts and labor warranty and toll-free
technical support. On the web, QSupport offers technical support and order
status. But hints have not yet been posted for WebXL, question categories
are PC-oriented, and email to tech support yielded a "Sorry but we cannot
support third party software/hardware" response. Quantex will want to
beef up WebXL on-line support and add cache tuning tips to meet ISP-level
expectations.
Final Thoughts
We found the WebXL extremely simple to install with a basic configuration,
and noticed nearly immediate improvement in web response time from browsers
in our test network. Moreover, we experienced service outage only once
during our week-long evaluation. The WebXL is indeed a turn-key appliance
in this respect. The problems we encountered were not altogether unexpected
for a version 1 product, but bypasses certainly need to be rectified.
The "nice to have" features we've suggested would allow the WebXL to better
satisfy larger ISPs with more sophisticated requirements. At under $4000,
the WebXL 2000 packs a lot of punch for an inexpensive entry-level cache.
