These products would benefit from a little usability polish and tighter integration to leverage features and reduce overlap. Nonetheless, when used together, MG-SOFT's NetInspector and MIB Browser cover nearly all of the bases expected from an under-$1K SNMP NMS. MIB Browser provides strong SNMP access -- for example, it is the first product we have tested with SNMPv3. We would not recommend using MIB Browser alone for network monitoring -- use Net Inspector to fulfill that requirement. If you want to monitor status with ping or SNMP, Net Inspector can do this today, as-is. If you want to monitor Internet servers, wait for the upcoming 2.0 release or consider other products. Those who need to monitor a few non-SNMP devices without spending big bucks for an event integration platform should check out Net Inspector's novel plug-in API.
