Getting Started
The TaskSmart is packaged in a 3U 19" rack-mountable enclosure, with floppy,
CD, and SCSI drives, LEDs, and power switch hidden behind a removable
panel. Packaged with the TaskSmart are five CDs: an A/V guide to installing
rack-mounted products, a configuration utility, QuickRestore factory-installed
image, on-line documentation, and Compaq management software. Two posters
clearly illustrate TaskSmart models, port numbering, LED interpretation,
initial configuration, and how to shutdown / power off. We found everything
needed for setup on the posters, but for those who prefer books, the included
hard-copy guide describes installation and the CLI.
A browser-based config utility enables
quick and easy first-time setup, but requires a recent version of
IE, Navigator, or Communicator (not included). Simply select the model,
enter IP addresses, domain name, DNS server(s), and default gateway.
Save the presented configuration as a text file on floppy, then boot
the TaskSmart from the floppy.
Open the URL http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx :1959/appliance/config.html to finish
configurationfor example, enable forward proxy (Client Acceleration)
by checking a box. That's all there is to it. It took us longer to unpack
the box than it did to get the TaskSmart running.
