New Appliances for Streamlining Data at ISP Centers

CacheFlow's content-smart networking solutions may provide an infrastructure layer that intelligently accelerates, delivers, and manages content.

by Wayne Kawamoto

CacheFlow announced the immediate availability of two new enterprise-level and carrier-class series: the CacheFlow Client Accelerator 6000 Series and Server Accelerator 7000 Series. The CA-6000 and SA-7000 Series consist of high-end content delivery appliances that combine performance with rack optimization, which should make them ideal for accelerating and managing data at ISP and enterprise data centers.

According to the company, both appliances integrate tightly with CacheFlow's content management and delivery products, Real and Windows Media Streaming services, and solutions from CacheFlow adaptive content exchange partners, to provide a broad portfolio of end-to-end content-smart networking solutions.

CacheFlow says that its content-smart networking solutions will provide a new layer of infrastructure that can intelligently accelerate, deliver, and manage static, streaming, dynamic and application content.

The edge is the key
The Client Accelerator 6000 Series is deployed at the network edge by service providers and enterprises to move Internet content closer to users to reduce response times, save bandwidth on WAN links, and optimize the delivery of multimedia streaming content.

The Server Accelerator 7000 Series, on the other hand, is installed "in front of" Web server farms to increase scalability and performance, and minimize capital and operational costs.

The appliances in the series are built on optimized 4U designs that are rack mountable in 19-inch enclosures. They can accommodate up to seven network connections that include fiber-optic and 10/100, and 1000 Base-T, and feature hot-swappable power supplies and hot-pluggable disk drives. "As static, secure and streaming traffic volumes continue to rise, the demands placed on ISPs have increased proportionally," said Patrick Harr, Vice President of Marketing for CacheFlow, "CacheFlow's content accelerators help ISPs cost-effectively deliver more content of all types through their existing infrastructure to meet the growing performance and quality of service demands of their customers."

Pricing and availability
Both the 6000 and 7000 Series are available now through CacheFlow and its channel partners. The 6000 Series models are priced from $24,995 to $88,995. The 7000 Series models are priced from $68,995 to $111,995.
