ISPPlanet NMS Series - Castle Rock SNMPc

Managing Workgroups with Castle Rock SNMPc

SNMPc 5.0 Workgroup Edition provides almost every feature we'd expect from an entry-level SNMP NMS. This reliable management server enables single-workstation monitoring and control for small-to-midsize networks. Unfortunately, you'd need to shell out a few grand to get remote access.

In part six of our entry-level NMS series, we take a look at Castle Rock SNMPc 5.0 Workgroup Edition. Available in Enterprise and Workgroup Editions, SNMPc is a comprehensive entry-level SNMP manager for IP and IPX networks. It's a solid platform for monitoring and control of networked devices that can be managed effectively using the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). Unlike products that offer monitoring without control, or service-level know-how with network-level savvy, SNMPc provides everything we'd expect in an inexpensive SNMP network management system—in a slightly pricey package.
