Breezecom announced the availability of its new BreezeACCESS 2.5 GHz products for Multichannel Multipoint Distribution Services (MMDS).The new product line complements the broadband wireless Internet offerings of BreezeCOM in the 2.4 and 3.5 GHz bands. A high-performance alternative to wire access networks, BreezeCOM claims that BreezeACCESS offers MMDS service providers a flexible system that is scalable and easy to install.

BreezeACCESS MMDS is an IP-optimized broadband wireless access system designed for Internet-centric data and voice communications that allows telecommunications providers, as well as incumbent operators, to offer services to their clients. The MMDS product line includes a base station, multiple models of indoor and outdoor subscriber units for data and voice, a selection of antennas, as well as other assorted accessories.

BreezeACCESS MMDS products employ Time Division Duplex (TDD) and Frequency-Hopping-Code Division Multiple Access (FH-CDMA) technologies that should allow for more flexible use of existing spectrum. The company claims that its TDD system does not require contiguous spectrum, and can efficiently utilize MMDS and ITFS channels that are not adjacent. Compliant with ETSI FH-CDMA specifications, BreezeCOM says that the BreezeACCESS enables synchronized hopping between channels to provide a robust link.

According to BreezeCOM, the BreezeACCESS MMDS offers exceptional frequency re-use capabilities that lets service providers simultaneously deploy both traditional and mini-cell architectures, and efficiently provide bandwidth to the areas where it is needed most. Other system features include CIR/MIR to enable ISPs to offer different classes of service, QoS and VPN services as well as VoIP telephony. Additionally, the company says that the system is SNMP manageable, provides up to 3Mbps per subscriber, and has remote software upgrade ability.

With its redundant power supply option, the system base station is designed to support up to six access units and may be configured in a variety of designs-from one sector to six sector cells. BreezeCOM says that this lets ISPs deploy based on coverage or capacity needs, not on limiting network designs or topology. Also, as user demands change, ISPs should be able to easily reallocate resources to meet the demand.

"Our MMDS solution is scaleable, reliable, and very easy to install," says Bernard Herscovich, president of BreezeCOM, Inc "We believe our stand-alone units and value-added features provide greater flexibility for service providers wanting to compete in the MMDS broadband access market".

Pricing and Availability
The BreezeACCESS MMDS will be available in July. Prices will be based on volume.
