ADTRAN Expands Total Access SystemBy Wayne
Kawamoto February 6, 2001 -- ADTRAN introduced three new IADs in its Total Access System of distributed access solutions. Designed for Voice over DSL (VoDSL) applications, the new Total Access IADs should support both TDM and ATM networks with cost effective, fixed port configurations. These Carrier Class devices support voice-only or converged voice/data solutions, providing small-to-medium-sized enterprises and integrated communications providers, such as CLECs, ILECs, and ISPs, a means to offer combined voice and data traffic over a single network interface. The new Total Access IADs include network interface ports for T1, SDSL, or G.shdsl and are compatible with industry leading DSLAMs and voice gateways for quick turn-up of VoDSL or VoATM services. These devices are also ideal for many enterprise TDM applications. As components of the Total Access System, the Total Access 604 provides four fixed analog voice interfaces, while the Total Access 608 provides eight fixed analog voice interfaces. These analog FXS interfaces should support the stringent design and full feature set required by today's carriers. Both products provide a built-in IP router and an integrated V.35 port for synchronous data applications, allowing the customer to combine a variety of voice and data services into a single platform. The Total Access 544 offers four ISDN interfaces accompanied by a V.35 port for synchronous data applications as well as an IP router. The Total Access 604 and 608 are designed for domestic use, while the Total Access 544, with ISDN S0 ports, is designed for international applications. Compact yet durable, Total Access IADs are housed in rugged, metal enclosures. They provide additional security with a battery back-up system. |
