November 2, 2001 -- Yipes Communications, Inc., a provider of scalable Ethernet services, announced that it is providing high-speed Internet service to the Chicago Stock Exchange, replacing traditional telco providers of legacy T-1 lines.

Founded in 1882, the Chicago Stock Exchange is one of the most technologically advanced and fastest growing exchanges in the United States. It trades more issues than any other stock exchange in the country, and its fully automated systems enable orders to be routed, executed and confirmed in less than a second.

The Chicago Stock Exchange's 450 members - floor brokers, specialists and market makers - make intensive use of the Internet for company and market research and for communicating with customers regarding orders. The exchange's previous T-1 line was frequently jammed with traffic, causing noticeable service slowdowns. Yipes' advanced optical IP networks upgraded the Exchange to a fat 10 Megabits-per-second pipe to the Internet.
